
TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION HOT LINE
Be advised that the information you need regarding school closure, buses not running, or a delayed start can be obtained by calling the "VOICE MAIL" system after 6:00am daily. Dial 337-7509. This will activate the "TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION" line which will advise you of the most current status of transportation issues. This system is updated daily and, as conditions change throughout the day. Also, this information is broadcast continually on the local TV and Radio stations after 6:30am.
PLEASE do not call the schools or the Transportation office for this information. The phone lines and personnel are in peak demand during these times and it is vital that they are not being tied up unnecessarily.

Parents and Students,
Each year in the United States there are more students killed in the loading and unloading areas around the school bus than any other area of the bus. We can save lives if we work together and you can help us by reviewing these rules with your child and making sure they follow the rules. Your child's safety is our most important concern.
Please read the following rules, rewards, and consequences. After discussing them with your child, both you and your child must sign the last page and return it to the bus driver before riding on a bus. These forms are included in the registration packets for the schools and are also available at the school offices.
* * BACKPACKS AND BOOK BAGS ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR ALL STUDENTS RIDING A SCHOOL BUS TO AND FROM SCHOOL OR ON A FIELD TRIP.
RULES:
1. ALWAYS OBEY THE BUS
DRIVER.
2. ARRIVE AT THE BUS STOP FIVE (5) MINUTES BEFORE SCHEDULED STOP
TIME.
3. BEHAVIOR AT THE BUS STOP MUST BE ORDERLY.
4. STAND BACK FROM THE
ROAD/CURB.
5. DO NOT PUSH OR SHOVE.
6. NEVER RUN TO OR FROM THE BUS.
7.
REFRAIN FROM YELLING OR USING FOUL LANGUAGE ON THE BUS.
8. REFRAIN FROM
EATING OR DRINKING OR USING TOBACCO ON THE BUS.
9. REMAIN SEATED AT ALL
TIMES,IN YOUR ASSIGNED SEAT ONLY AND FACING FORWARD.
10. DO NOT EXTEND ANY
PART OF YOUR BODY OUT THE WINDOWS.
11. KEEP YOUR HANDS AND FEET OUT OF THE
AISLE AND TO YOURSELF.
12. ALL OF YOUR PROPERTY MUST STAY OUT OF THE AISLE AT
ALL TIMES.
13. STUDENTS MUST NOT DAMAGE ANY PART OF THE BUS OR OTHER STUDENTS
PROPERTY.
14. REMAIN IN YOUR SEAT UNTIL THE BUS DOOR IS COMPLETELY
OPEN.
15. THERE WILL BE NO LARGE OBJECTS (such as, but not limited
to:skateboards,snowboards, skis, large musical instruments..), WEAPONS OR
ANIMALS ALLOWED ON THE BUS - NO EXCEPTIONS !
16. STUDENTS MUST GET OFF AT
THEIR ASSIGNED STOP UNLESS PRIOR WRITTEN PERMISSION IS GRANTED BY A SCHOOL
OFFICIAL.
17. STUDENTS MUST CROSS IN FRONT (10 giant steps) OF THE BUS AND
NOT BEFORE THE DRIVER SIGNALS THEM ACROSS.
18. NEVER CRAWL UNDER OR PICK UP
ANYTHING AROUND THE BUS.
19. THERE WILL BE ABSOLUTE QUIET AT ALL RAILROAD
CROSSINGS.
20. BE SURE TO LEAVE THE BUS WITH EVERYTHING YOU BROUGHT ON THE
BUS.
If the above rules are followed, then the rewards listed below may be
received:
1. SEAT ASSIGNMENT WAIVED.
2. LISTEN TO RADIO.
3. COMMUNITY
PASSES OR TREATS.
4. SPECIAL REWARDS AND RECOGNITION.
Students who choose not to obey the rules will receive the following consequences:
FIRST INCIDENT: DRIVER
DISCUSSES INFRACTION WITH STUDENT AND DEPENDING ON THE SEVERITY OF THE
INFRACTION DRIVER MAY ISSUE A SCHOOL BUS CITATION WHICH MAY RESULT IN
SUSPENSION. PARENT WILL BE CONTACTED.SECOND INCIDENT: DRIVER ISSUES SCHOOL BUS
CITATION WHICH WILL BE GIVEN TO THE SCHOOL ADMINISTRATOR.CONFERENCE WITH
PARENT-DRIVER-SCHOOL OFFICIAL-
TRANPORTATION OFFICIAL MAY BE HELD AND MAY
RESULT IN SUSPENSION FOR UP TO TEN (10) DAYS.THIRD INCIDENT: DRIVER ISSUES
SCHOOL BUS CITATION WHICH WILL BE GIVEN TO THE SCHOOL ADMINISTRATOR. CONFERENCE
WITH PARENT-DRIVER-SCHOOL OFFICIAL-TRANSPORT- ATION OFFICIAL WILL BE REQUIRED
AND WILL RESULT IN SUSPENSION FOR UP TO TEN (10) DAYS.
SEVERE DISRUPTION: THE FOLLOWING INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE SUSPENSION OF TRANSPORTATION PRIVILEGES.
1. PHYSICAL HARM OR THREAT OF
HARM TO ANOTHER STUDENT.
2. PHYSICAL HARM OR THREAT OF HARM TO BUS
DRIVER.
3. FIGHTING, CARRYING WEAPONS, SMOKING, USE OF DRUGS, ETC.
4.
PROPERTY DAMAGE (DAMAGE WILL BE PAID BY OFFENDER).
5. CONSTANT REFUSAL TO
OBEY BUS DRIVER.
6. TOTAL DISRUPTION OF THE BUS.
