History
I graduated from Sparks High School as a junior in 1981. I lettered in both
Cross-Country and Track during my years at Sparks. Some say graduating early is
the thing to do, but I missed out on a lot, and in retrospect I missed out on a
lot of good times at school and with my friends.
After graduating from Sparks I attended the University of Nevada Reno (U.N.R.), 1982-1986, majoring in Physics and minoring in Mathematics. During this time I graded papers for the Physics Department, tutored students in Physics and Math, and worked at the Fleischmann Planetarium to help put myself through school.
I graduated from U.N.R. in 1986, and joined the United States Navy. I did my Navy training in Orlando Florida as an Electronic Technician/ Reactor Operator for 18 months. Then cross rated to an Avionics Technician, where I was stationed at Whidbey Island with VAQ 129 and 130. During the Gulf War I was stationed on the USS John F. Kennedy. This was an exiting and remarkable time. I visited Italy, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt. I was Honorably Discharged from the Navy in 1992.
After being discharged I went back to U.N.R. and received both my Teaching Certificate and a Masters Degree in Physics. While at the Physics Department I became the Head Lab Teaching Assistance, and would train new Graduate Students in the process of teaching Physics Labs to Under Graduate Students. I also maintained the laboratory equipment and computers. Received Secondary Teaching Certificate 1995, and Masters Degree in Physics in 1998.
I received my first teaching assignment in 1998, teaching math at Downey High School in Los Angles, California. I then moved back to Nevada to teach Physics/Math/Chemistry at White Pine High School in Ely, Nevada. After a year isolated in Ely, I was offered a teaching position at Incline High School teaching Computers.
Received doctorate degree (Ph.D.) from U.N.R. on May 18, 2007. Dissertation topic "Motivational Factors Related to Teacher Transfer."

Hobbies
I have had many hobbies, from coin collecting to marathon running,
but have not kept up with any of them. I have many SCUBA Diving qualifications,
but I only go about once a year now. I have ran two marathons, a score of
half-marathons, and tons of little races. Now I am just happy if I can run to
the store and back; I guess that's what cars are for. I also enjoy down hill
and cross-country skiing, Hiking, and Camping. I still go jogging when I get
the chance.

Grading:
Points will be given for in class work, i.e., tutorials, quizzes, tests, and
presentations.
Tests will always be worth 100 points, and other assignments will show point
values.
Percentages will be calculated on a straight (total points earned divided
by the total points possible) times 100.
So keep all of your returned papers add up the total points you received
from all your returned papers and then divide by the total points possible and
then multiply by 100 to get your percentage grade.
The grading scale:
| A A- B B- C C- D D- F |
95 - 100% |
