LTC Iratcabal

LTC_IratcabalSenior Army Instructor: LTC (Ret) Michael E. Iratcabal was born in Reno, Nevada in 1963. He received a Reserve Officer commission from ROTC in 1986; in 1987, he received a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from the University of Nevada at Reno, and holds a Master of Science degree in management from Florida Institute of Technology. He served 21 years on active duty with numerous logistics duty assignments in the United States, Germany, Korea and the Persian Gulf; and he has served two combat tours. His last duty assignment was the Inspector General, Nevada Military Department, Carson City, Nevada. His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal (2 OLC), the Air Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (5 OLC), and the Army Achievement Medal (2 OLC). He is married to the former Danielle A, Detweiler, and they have four children, Derik, Nicole, Danea, and Bryan.

Army Instructor: First Sergeant Charles Larry Porter was born January 18, 1952 in Hayti, Missouri, where after his graduation from high school he entered the Army in 1970. 1SG Porter completed basic combat training at Fort Bragg, North Carolina and Advanced Missile Training at Fort Skill, Oklahoma. 1SG Porter’s first assignment was with the 3rd Battalion, 81st Field Artillery Sergeant Missile Battalion Camp Colbern, Korea. He departed from the army in January 1972. Upon re-entering the service in August 1972, he was assigned to Company B 2nd Battalion 327th Infantry Fort Campbell, Kentucky for Advanced infantry Training. Numerous assignments followed, including A Company 1st Battalion, 4th Battalion 54th infantry, and Company D 18th Battalion 4th Training Brigade, Fort Knox, Kentucky; Headquarters U.S Army Military Reserve AFTM (Active Full Time Manning) as training advisor for Company B 2nd Battalion TLAT (Tow Light Anti-Tank), 180th Infantry Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Company E 1st Battalion, 10th Infantry Fort Carson, Colorado; headquarters and Headquarters Company and Company B 2nd Battalion, 4th infantry Regiment, Pershing Missile Command Neu Ulm, Germany; Reserve Officer Training Corps Stetson University Deland, Florida; Sr. Enlisted Advisor, Branch Assistance Team Infantry with the 6th U.S Army Readiness Group on the Presidio of San Francisco. 1SG Porter’s numerous positions include Squad Leader, Platoon Sgt., Sr. Drill Sgt, S-2 Intel Operations NCO, S-3 Operations & Plans NCO and First Sergeant. 1SG Porter holds an associate’s degree in general studies from Central Texas College (Europe). 1SG Porter has graduated from 101st Noncommissioned Officers Academy, Air Assault School, Basic Noncommissioned Officers Academy, Drill Sergeant School and the First Sergeant Course. He also completed the United States Sergeants Major Academy, Class #36, and the Bradley Fighting Vehicle Commander’s Course. 1SG Porter’s awards include the Honorable Order of Saint Barbara (Patron saint for the Artillery branch), the Superior Unit Award, Army commendation Medal (3), the Army Achievement Medal (2), the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, good conduct Medal with star bronze. He also earned the Expert Infantryman’s Badge, the Drill Sergeant Badge, Air Assault Badge, and the German Bronze Schutzenchnur (Rifle Marksmanship Badge). 1SG Porter retired March 1, 1992 and since then has been employed at the IHS ROTC Department as the 1st year ROTC instructor and is the coach of Color Guard, Drill team and the Varsity Rifle Team where his superior skills in these areas has resulted in numerous awards for the HIGHLANDER BN Corps of Cadets. He resides with his wife Debra in Minden, NV.
